2024: My Word of the Year

I've been choosing a word of the year, for probably the last 7 years, and it's less of a "choice" and more of me listening to my intuition. It's just a gut feeling. That may sound woo woo, but it's what works for me.

Last year, my word was strength, which I didn't love, because that meant things would likely be hard (spoiler alert: they were) because in order to get stronger, you have to be able to withstand pressure. But, 2023 was also really amazing, and I learned a lot. It was the first full year that I solely worked for myself. It was incredible, I'm so grateful, but there were also challenges, and new things to figure out. I'm still learning and have new goals for 2024. I'm dialing in the metrics/KPI's that I want to track, weekly, to keep myself more accountable and on the right path.

2024 kind of snuck up on me (it probably didn't help that I was traveling, sick for 1 1/2 weeks, or celebrating the holidays) so when things settled down and I realized the new year was quickly approaching, I was journaling in the morning, and wondered what my word for 2024 would be. When I had the thought pop into my head, I immediately thought of the word growth, and I was semi-resistant to it too. That may sound silly, because while growth is great, and is something that I've been desiring (in a lot of aspects in my life), it can also be challenging because it's different, and will present new obstacles (aka I like my comfort zone at times, ha). But, I've literally been wanting it, and working for it, and making plans, so let's go!

Growth definitions:

• progressive development: evolution, increase, expansion

• the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually

• the process of increasing in amount, value, or importance

• increase in economic value or activity

• the act or process, or a manner of growing, development, gradual increase

• size or stage of development: it hasn't yet reached its full growth

• implies an increase of something, generally in a positive way
