Winter Park 3 Day Itinerary with Best Western Alpenglo Lodge

It’s officially the second hottest summer on record and I needed a break from the Denver heat, so I headed up to the mountains! I got to stay at the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge (AD) at Winter Park and had the best time. The Alpenglo Lodge is nestled among the picturesque landscapes of the Rockies and Best Western offers the perfect blend of comfort and adventure for your mountain getaway.

The Alpenglo Lodge located downtown, so it’s close to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, and the resort - which makes it so convenient, no matter what time of year you visit! I can't wait to go back during ski season, so I don't have to fight traffic going back to Denver, and can enjoy more time on the slopes!

Their beds and pillows were so comfy, which is a must for me, when I’m traveling. It was so nice to take a mini vacation, close to home, and have a slower paced trip. 

Here’s my 3 day itinerary: 

Day 1: 

• Drove up from Denver and enjoyed the views from Berthoud Pass

• Checked in to Best Western 

• Read outside and relaxed

• Had dinner at Smokehouse (I love their pulled pork or brisket sandwich with mac and cheese as a side)

• Sat in the hot tub at the hotel 

• Had an early night

Day 2:

• Grabbed continental breakfast downstairs 

• Got coffee from Moon Frog Coffee (walking distance)

• Walked the Fraser River Trail for some light exercise 

• Walked and shopped in Winter Park 

• Rode the gondola 

• Read and relaxed 

Day 3: 

• Had in room coffee and a slow morning

• Packed up and checked out

• Went on a hike off of Berthoud Pass on the way home

• Drove home

Winter Park is such a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts, like myself, no matter what season you visit. There really is something for everyone!

  • I love skiing at Winter Park! Last season was my first season with a ski pass and I definitely improved. I got good enough that I could ski on the Mary Jane side (blue and black runs only).
